About Me

My real name is MacKay, but my online alias is "blue." I chose the nickname toward the end of my senior year of high school, because I was moving on to new things and wanted my name to reflect that.

But why "blue"?

It was around this time when I decided to create my first website. All records of this site are now gone; but the name I chose for it was "smile and be blue". Everything was done in shades of blue, with pictures of me. It was a somewhat sad site, with some of my less happy thoughts and dreams, old journal entries, posted up on it.

That site didn't last long, but the name stuck around. Soon after I changed my livejournal name to "and_be_blue", and my AOL/AIM screen name was quick to follow. I officially became "and be blue". I bought this website, eclectic blue, to reflect that name and that feeling. When I entered the dolling world, it was shortened to just "blue," and my site was called "dolls in blue [and other assorted colors]."

I live in Yonkers, NY and work at a web design company in the heart of White Plains. I am a goddess of CSS and HTML: I know, it sounds self-centered, but I really do have a knack for these things. CSS feels so natural and comfortable; when I've finished a website I feel accomplished and satisfied. It's just fun to build, and I'd rather build sites than do the rest of the stuff, like design and population. (;

I'm also pretty decent at pixel art and dolling. Pixels, like CSS, feel natural in a way that no other art form ever has. It's like math, or science, following formulas, figuring out puzzles and solving them. I love puzzles, and I love finding solutions to problems.

I'm very loud, very opinionated, and have a tendency to piss people off while simultaneously making them think about their own beliefs, their own opinions, and their own moral scheme. I like order, even though my apartment is a complete wreck. I love my cat Ambrosia and would very much like a second beastie to keep her entertained during my days away from home.

Some other things I enjoy: Indie music, sci fi, fantasy, online RP, reality TV, musicals, sushi, cooking, wine, arguing, the color green [and, surprisingly, not so much blue], manicures, jewelry, hats, steampunk, AIM, character creation, glass beads, and a hundred other things but that should about cover it.
